Agents of State Farm
What started as a few agents in a small Illinois town expanded to nearly 19,000 across the nation. Take a look at the people that serve our customers and make positive impacts on their neighborhoods.

Farm bureau to insurance agent
It’s can be tough to reach customers. So, our founder, G.J. Mecherle, decided to meet farmers on their terms – in the farm bureau offices. Farmers regularly visited farm bureaus, and those farm bureaus basically became the first company agents.
As State Farm offered more products and services, State Farm embraced an agent office model. That meant dedicated, full-time State Farm agents helping customers find solutions to their needs.

19,000 strong
We’ve come a long way from the first farm bureau State Farm agents. Our unique agents have and continue to act as vital members of the community. They make it their business to be good neighbors and serve every State Farm customer.
