Honoring our veterans
It's our promise to continually honor those who have sacrificed so much. Whether it's through employment opportunities, resources or just a helping hand – we support our veterans. State Farm's tradition of honoring its employees who have served our nation was on display dating from World War II, an event that is ingrained in the fabric of our nation.

Reserved desks
Several State Farm employees were deployed during WWII. Though their desks were empty, they still displayed reserved signs.
"Members of our family couldn't be with us today. We have loaned them to another employer who has a much bigger job to do ... We are anxiously looking forward to the day when these signs will be removed, and we will again see … plugging away at these desks reserved for them." ALFI News, September 1944

1943 Special War Edition Atlas
State Farm started their tradition of providing atlases purchased from Rand McNally to policyholders in 1935 when the State Farm Travel Bureau began.
This is the Special War Edition released during World War II.

Whileaway Club
The Whileaway Club was formed February 1942. The club was organized for State Farm® employees in the service during World War II to sponsor writing letters, sending useful articles, creating a monthly bulletin and letting service members know they have not been forgotten “While Away” from home.
TThis is the cover of the first Whileaway Club monthly bulletin published February 1942.
